DESCRIPTION
Cardamom pods, which are lantern-shaped, are the dried fruits of the perennial plant Elettaria cardamomum. This plant features tall stems and clusters of green fruits that emit an intense fragrance. As the pod matures, the seeds change from white to brown and then black, releasing their characteristic aroma. The oval capsules are harvested just before they fully ripen, dried, and turn green. With its strong, smoky flavor that is both sweet and floral with hints of lemon, cardamom is perfect for both sweet and savory dishes. It is also widely used in spice blends.
